When betting a Trifecta you get paid a dividend by picking the first three place getters in order. To maximize your chances of winning you need to bet a number of combinations. Following are ways to do this from simple (and inefficient) to more complicated (and more profitable):
•Standard Trifectas are the simplest form of trifecta betting because you just select first, second and third in order (ie one selection to come first, one to come second and one to come third). The cost is inexpensive at just one unit but the chances of you picking the three place getters correctly and in order are rather low.
•Boxed Trifectas are a popular trifecta betting method where you bet a number of selections to come first, second and third in any order. With boxed trifectas you get every possible combination of your selections for first, second and third.
•Multiple Trifectas are similar to boxed trifectas but you can specify a different number of selections for first, second and third.
•Banker Trifectas are where you stand out one selection to win with other selections to fill the second and third places. Roving Bankers are similar but your banker is a runner you are sure will fill a place so you “rove” it across the three place positions. The use of bankers reduces your outlay but naturally you only collect if your banker fills the required position and your other selections fill the other positions.
•Flexi Betting allows you to reduce the overall amount bet in return for a proportionally reduced collect. Also known as Fractional Betting and Percentage Betting in NZ, this is a great way to make trifecta betting more affordable. Let’s look at an example with 10 horses where boxing gives 720 combinations costing $720 (using $1 units). With Flexi Betting you could reduce your outlay to say $72 (10%) or even $7.50 (1%). If the trifecta paid $10,000 then you would have to outlay $720 to get the full $10,000 but a $72 Flexi Bet would return you $1,000 (10%) while a $7.50 Flexi Bet would return $100 (1%).

Horse Racing Betting Strategy
When you are planning to wager on horse racing the most important thing that you can do is ensure that you have a solid strategy. If you do not have a solid betting strategy when you are wagering on horses then you will find that you are donating a lot of money to your racebook. Thus, get one! Wagering on horse racing makes the sport a lot more entertaining, but it can definitely get old if you keep losing your money. In order to have more fun then you should use when watching horse racing since you will have more fun.
A solid strategy is not going to guarantee that you win your bets, but it will allow you to have a fighting chance which is all you can ask for while having fun. The most important factor when constructing your horse betting strategy is the horse itself. You need to make sure that the horse is in good shape and you will also need to make sure that the horse has had some good previous results. If the horse you are betting on has only raced once in the last 6 months, then they might not be a good pick.
You also need to make sure that the horse has not had any recent injuries or any rumors of injuries for that matter. If the horse is injured in any shape or form then it most likely will not have a good race and definitely is not a smart wager for you! Often the fittest horses will win the long distance races, but in short distance races any horse can win on any given day, depending on the jockey. Generally speaking, you will often find a lot more underdogs winning races in the shorter distance horse races then in the longer distance horse races.
Another factor which needs to be considered in your betting strategy is the jockey that is going to be racing the horse. If the jockey does not have much experience then they will be an underdog when compared to a jockey with a lot of racing experience. Not only do you need to make sure that the horse is in shape and injury free, but you should also make sure the jockey is feeling in shape and good about the upcoming race. The jockey, in my opinion, can make the horse race!
When betting on horse racing you want to make sure that you mix up your bets and do not rely on one horse to finish in first place. In fact, I suggest that you bet on that horse in “place”. However, with the different types of bets out there you can really spread your bets out. Thus, giving you better odds at hitting on one of your tickets. Always try to hit the big bets on the races you bet on such as the Superfecta because if you get lucky and it hits you will be able to win a huge payoff. I always suggest that at least one horse should be a longshot!
The last thing you need to include in your horse betting strategy is the proper bankroll management because without being able to manage your bankroll you will have no longevity in this sport. Horse racing does not cost that much to wager on (at 5Dimes, in fact it is only .50!), but if you are not banking any winnings then it can catch up with you quickly. Make sure you are not just throwing picks together in the hopes of winning because you might get lucky 1 time out of 100 times, but that is not going to earn you a profit.

Here'sThe 7 Biggest Lottery Myths
Many people have the wrong idea about how to play and win lotto. Let’s bust a few myths:
MYTH #1. Winning lotto is difficult to win. No it’s not. When you’ve got the right system, winning is easy.
MYTH #2. Winners are rarely happy. Wrong. A recent poll showed that lotto winners were among the happiest people on the planet. If you think about it, it’s quite simple… would you be happy with a lot of money – or none?
MYTH #3. You can’t win by wishing. Yes you can. Hope plays a big part in winning lotto. It keeps you going when you get losses, and keeps your enthusiasm up. Most people fail at lotto by dropping out of the game too early.
MYTH #4. There is no system that can help you win. There are a few systems that will help you win… but you need to be selective.
MYTH #5. Winning lotto is pure luck. While luck plays a small part in your wins, the way you set up your winning plan is more important. Luck can be manufactured by increasing the number of tickets and increasing the number of games you play.
MYTH #6. You’ll win more if you go to a lucky shop. There is no such thing as a lucky lotto shop. It is simply a place where more people have bought their tickets than anywhere else. The system you use is more important than where you buy your tickets.
MYTH #7. There is only one way to win lotto. There are several ways besides entering a game. You can sell the Silver Lotto System and make money… you can enter my Winner’s Circle syndicate… and you can increase your chances with my Lotto-80 system or PRO Custom Profiles.
Remember that the barrier to winning is in your mind. If you believe you can’t, you won’t. Now, let’s get winning!

How Random Are Quick Picks
Random matters when you want to buy your ticket, and decide to use a quick pick.
It may not matter quite as much as the draw results being random, but you do not really want to buy a quick pick if it means hundreds of other people all end up with the same numbers as you.
Because that would mean you would be sharing your jackpot with all of them!
So the lottery company engineers and maths-types go to great lengths to make sure that your lottery terminal spits out some proper random selections. Because being fair is vital to all lottery companies – it determines how much we trust them, and whether or not we buy a ticket!
They do not tell us exactly how their specific machines work, but there is a lot more involved than you might think. It is common to use atmospheric noise or radioactive decay to help ensure random stays random.
Is it impossible for the quick pick software to output the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and a 6 as the Powerball?
Random is of course supposed to mean that any combination is possible.
Obviously you can not get A, B, C, D and E out of the machine since they are not part of the pool of numbers. However, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 are.
So if that set of numbers (or any other) could NOT be generated, then surely that would mean there was something wrong with the number generator.
It would be like a loaded dice that would never roll a 6.
The fact is, every combination is highly unlikely. Because there are 175,223,510 of them (and yes, that is more than 175 million different possible results for the US Powerball).
Which means there is a 1-in-175,223,510 chance of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and Powerball 6 being selected.
But there is also a 1-in-175,223,510 chance of 13 , 19 , 23, 33, 57 and Powerball 28 coming out too.
The fact is, they are just as ‘highly unlikely’ as each other, or as any other combination.
So why does one result look ‘more random’ than the other?
Simply because our brains like patterns. We are programmed to see them.
It made the news when Florida picked all consecutive lottery numbers back in 2011.
But there is no pattern as far as the lottery machine is concerned. They are just 5 or 6 differently numbered balls. Nothing more!
They did not even necessarily get picked in that order since the numbers are sorted numerically before they are printed, to make it easy to check the results.
This does NOT prove that the game is rigged. And in actual fact, it should reassure you that the quick pick machine is working perfectly normally since it CAN pick combinations such as the one it gave you.
The Powerball folks really do not need to fix the game since they make plenty of money by operating a perfectly fair and legal draw, regardless of when the jackpot is won. The odds are so tough that it rolls over most draws simply because there are so many more possible results than tickets sold.
So random can really be truly random, even when it does not look like it!
